What: Explore: The Sustainable Blue Economy
When: June 9 at 11 AM-1 PM PT/ 2-4 PM ET/ 3-5 PM AT
Hosts: Students On Ice Foundation and Prince’s Trust Canada, an organization that helps youth aged 18-30 from all backgrounds prepare for the world of work.
What it includes:
- A fun, personalized, goal-setting exercise, visioning their future pathway and learning about the benefits of mentorship;
- A youth-facilitated roundtable discussion focused on how youth see future opportunities in Canada’s ocean and water sectors. (This piece will result in a visual graphic that will be fed into Canada’s Blue Economy Strategy.)
- The launch of the Blue Futures Pathways Internship program, where youth who engage can be eligible for up to a $15,000 stipend towards employment in the ocean or water sectors.
The event is free and open to all youth aged 18-30. It would be great for youth exploring careers, as there are opportunities within the Sustainable Blue Economy ranging from research, conservation, and cultural tourism to wastewater management, and ocean/ice technology.
