Meet the Team
Katie is a Grantee Support Coordinator with #RisingYouth. She is based in Prince Edward Island. She has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Education; both from the University of PEI. Katie is passionate about making connections with other people, her community, and is very interested in creative expression! She is also a mental health advocate and is involved in some volunteer work to do with that. Katie is always happy to help and support grantees in their project journey! Marc is the Participant Support Coordinator with #RisingYouth, and is here to provide one-on-one support for youth at every stage of the granting process. They are also passionate about ensuring #RY grants are highly accessible, with low-barriers to entry for youth all across Turtle Island. Marc was born and raised on the unceded and unsurrendered Wolastoqiyik and Mi'kmaq territory, also known as New Brunswick, and now lives and works in Tkaronto, on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat.
Simeh is from Ottawa, Ontario. He has worked as a youth mentor and community developer professionally and in his spare time for several years with different non-profits in his city. He currently works as the Applicant Support Coordinator and supports youth complete their application process to help them receive their approval. His favourite part of the role is knowing he is supporting the leaders of today and tomorrow to develop and impact their communities.
In 2018 Loizza was recognized as a Top 25 Canadian Immigrant and received the YMCA Peace Medal for her advocacy surrounding mental health. Currently, Loizza is in her final year of completing her H BSc. at the University of Toronto in Mental Health, International Development and Media Studies. Loizza is passionate about helping youth develop their leadership skills and ensuring that grantees have access to resources that they may need to execute their community support projects.
