One year after COVID-19 hit Turtle Island with force, this event aims to take stock of the past year. What has the pandemic meant for various Black communities, including those who live at the intersection of multiple systems of oppression? How has it exposed pre-existing vulnerabilities to financial hardship and/or premature death? How, finally, have Black communities responded? In a year of historic protests against the police and anti-Black racism, what has changed, what hasn’t, and what kind of alternative futures have Black activists made visible and compelling? These are the major questions addressed by this intergenerational panel of Black activists.
